Born in North Carolina at the end of WWII of two U.S. Marine Corps parents, I was raised as a military brat in various places in and out of the USA. Graduating with a BA in History and four years of ROTC, I entered the US Army as an officer. While in the Army I commanded two mechanized infantry companies, was an intelligence officer, an operations officer, a communications officer, and an advisor to the Reserves and National Guard. After serving many years on active and reserve duty, I left the military as a Major. My second “career” was in the ministry, serving several churches as a pastor for many years in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Two years after my wife died, I left the ministry, remarried, and went back to school to get a teaching credential. I taught history, language arts, humanities, geography, communications, literature, government, and pyschology at the middle school, high school, and junior college level for many years and was both a principal and a dean of students. The last “career” for me, after ”retiring” to Florida, was as a realtor. My education includes degrees in History, English, Theology, and Ministry. Rita is my wife and between us we have 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters, who have given us 13 grandchildren. This blog is an outlet for my opinions and reflections on a variety of subjects. Comments are welcome.
