“Domestic Terrorists?”

Thank you, party in power, for labeling millions of Americans, including me, who disagree with you and the present administration, as “domestic enemies” and the “new wave of terrorists….” The last time I checked this was still a democratic republic where the people rule through their representatives, not some pseudo-oligarchy of elitists who don’t even listen to the will of the people.  It seems that now that the power has changed in Washington, what used to be the peoples’ right to speak out in protest of issues and policies of the government has become subversive talk and activities of  “domestic terrorists.”    Some of you even see those of us who gather at “tea parties” to protest the government’s taxing and spending excesses as racists rising up against our first black president.

If the majority of the people of this nation are ready for their form of government to change to a socialist model and vote for that to happen, then that is what we should become.  But under that model we can expect to hear less and less from the opposition as a small group of leaders move to consolidate power in their governmental hands rather than carrying out the will of the people.  As the government becomes increasingly bigger and more intrusive and controlling of our lives, many of us are waking up and speaking out.  What is happening in our country is truly scary: the government taking over banks, mortgage companies, insurance companies, automobile companies; the government competing in the health care arena with privately owned companies, moving inextricably toward the ultimate takeover and socialization of medical care; the government in Obama’s own words, “being broke” and yet spending, spending, spending and owing an increasing amount of its debt to China; the administration appointing czar after czar in charge of everything without being answerable to congress; the government promising that the $787 billion stimulus would create and save jobs but so far 1.5 million jobs have been lost since its passage;   I will concede that the first steps toward this mess we find ourselves in were taken by the previous administration and congress but so what?  Whether it’s the Republicans or the Democrats that are leading us down the path to socialism, doesn’t really matter.  What matters is that we better wake up before we get there or we’ll find ourselves eventually unable to speak out without being at risk of being not only labeled as “domestic enemies” and “terrorists” but treated like them as well.  If it is true that everything looks good for the future with all the wonderful programs this administration is putting into place, why are things continuing to get worse and worse for both the economy and for us out here in the real America?
